Cleanroom Design and Engineering for Life Science – 16th & 17th April 2026, Zürich

On April 17, 2026, I had the privilege of speaking in Zurich at a technical conference dedicated to innovation in pharmaceutical HVAC design. My presentation focused on one of the industry’s most promising yet underutilized strategies for energy optimization: adiabatic cooling integrated into Run‑Around Coil (RAC) systems.

Drawing from the concepts explored in my recent article How Adiabatic Cooling Boosts Efficiency in Run-Around Coil Pharmaceutical HVAC Systems, the session highlighted how evaporative cooling on the exhaust side can dramatically enhance RAC performance without compromising GMP‑compliant air‑stream separation. We examined real‑world simulation data showing how adiabatic pre‑cooling can boost heat‑recovery efficiency by more than 24% and deliver annual energy savings exceeding 22,000 kWh—results that resonated strongly with attendees seeking practical, high‑impact sustainability measures.

The audience in Zurich—engineers, facility managers, and cleanroom specialists—showed great interest in the operational considerations behind implementing adiabatic cooling safely, including humidity control, equipment selection, and water‑quality management. The discussion reinforced a shared industry goal: achieving meaningful energy reductions while maintaining the strict environmental control required in pharmaceutical manufacturing.

This event was an excellent opportunity to exchange knowledge with professionals committed to pushing HVAC performance forward. I look forward to continuing the conversation and exploring new ways to integrate efficient, robust, and GMP‑aligned solutions into future cleanroom designs.
